Flight

Mixed media: Polymer clay, acrylic paints, wire for frame and feet, papier mache for wings, laquer.
36x20x15 cm
2014

Life is continuous movement, which, over time, forms repetitive cycles of norms. These are the basis of life and culture, but can also get us stuck in old ways. The only way to break the cycles is to leap towards unknown action, to break the loop and change it. The most terrifying moment of such agency is making yourself step into the unknown. Would you jump and take flight with the risk of falling?
The texture is a result of layering acrylic paint. I am currently exploring textures and especially their use to create work that changes when looked at from different perspectives.

Made for a friend, who, surprisingly, likes crows.
